Annual Fundraising Gala

Luck O’The Yellow Brick

The Ladies of The Yellow Brick Foundation are in search of a pot of gold somewhere over the rainbow on Sunday, September 17, 2017.  The 4th Annual Fundraising Gala will include Irish Dancing, Celtic Music, and a GRAND Silent Auction.  There will also be a Money Wheel where guest spin for a chance at a 50/50 raffle and the popular Wine Pull.

Walk with Dorothy

Walk with Dorothy between April 5th and April 15th

Take a walk down The Yellow Brick Road! The Yellow Brick Foundation walks with our clients, step by step to set goals and achieve them. Walk with Dorothy allows our supporters to “walk in our client’s shoes” by setting a goal and raise funding for TYB. Each participant receives a profile of a client to walk with as they walk their intended amount over 10 days and will collect pledges per mile/hr or one time donation to TYB. 100% of donations from the Walk with Dorothy Campaign will be used for Client Services to help empower women to build a better life!

Registration begins March 1st thru April 1st.

  1. All participants receive a client profile, someone to walk with on the journey.
  2. Set a goal.  Determine how many miles you will walk over the 10 days or how much time you plan to walk (for example you can choose to walk 2 miles per day or  you might plan to walk 20 minutes per day).
  3. Download your 2017 Spring WWD Pledge Form and start seeking sponsors.  Share the story of The Yellow Brick Foundation and the client profile you received with your potential sponsors.
  4. On April 5th, you start walking. Record how much you walk each day between April 5th and April 15th.
  5. On April 16th, contact your sponsors/donors and let them know how many miles you achieved and collect the amount pledged. Sponsors may pay their pledge online at Donors link via PayPal – be sure they indicate who they sponsored.  Please make checks payable to The Yellow Brick Foundation.  All donations are tax deductible.
  6. Donation deadline is Friday, April 21st.

Upgrade your SWAG Fashion Show & Dottes Closet Mobile Sale

The Yellow Brick Foundation has partnered with Kansas City Community College for the “Upgrade your SWAG” Fashion Show.  Students from the F.B.O.E (Fringe Benefits of Education, Intercultural Center and the Catholic Students Association will be the stage crew, production managers and of course the models.  Come to see how the students dress the part with clothing from Dottes Closet to obtain the job they want for their future.  The fashion show will take the audience through the stages of seeking a job, preparing for the interview, landing the perfect job in your desired profession and upgrading your SWAG!  Fashion Show flyer – 2017

The fashion show will be held in “Upper Jewell” on Sunday, April 2nd from 2:00-4:00 pm at Kansas City Community College (7250 State AVE, KCKS 66112).  Admission is $1.00 which benefits the student groups participating in the fashion show.  Dottes Closet will be open following the show until 5:30 and from 9:00-2:00 Monday, April 3rd through Wednesday, April 5th.  Dotte’s Closet Basic Info

Spring Cleaning Drive

 

Our Annual Spring Cleaning Drive kicks off February 25th and runs through March 25th.  It’s time to kick off our snow boots and clean out the cobwebs of winter.  The Spring Cleaning Drive helps The Yellow Brick Foundation stock our shelves of cleaning supplies, paper products and hygiene items.  These items are passed onto our clients to help their families happy and healthy.  Your generosity is appreciated by many throughout the year!

Most needed items:

  • General Cleaning Supplies for kitchen and bathroom
  • Household soap for dishwasher, hands, dishes and laundry products
  • Paper products including toilet paper, box of tissue, and paper towels
  • Personal hygiene items such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc.
  • Women specific hygiene supplies

It is time for another Art & Wine Event for us to continue painting The Yellow Brick Foundation Series!  Join us Sunday, January 29th for an afternoon of fun at Happy Trees Painting Co (1219 Union, KCMO 64101) and owner Melissa Butler will take us step by step in creating a one of a kind masterpiece painting.  The cost is only $25 and includes the 2-hour painting session, wine, hor’dorves and $20 is considered a tax-deductible donation!

There are two sessions offered, please indicate the session you wish to attend at the time of registration.  We can only accommodate 25 per session so register early!

1:00-3:00 Session     OR     3:30-5:30 Session

3rd Annual Fundraising GALA

Our 3rd Annual Fundraising GALA was held on Friday September 9th and was a huge success.  We had Casino tables, a wine pull, a photo station, and of course the live auction.  Guests bid, gambled and socialized while supporting The Yellow Brick Foundation’s mission and growth over the past year.  We would like to thank everyone who joined us in celebrating the kickoff of our fourth year.  A special thank you goes out to our drink sponsors Blue Chair Rum and Till Vodka as well as 0ur business sponsors The Brass on Baltimore, Site Rite Construction, APD Management, Quest Diagnostics, Plaza Catering, and Razorjack Recruiting.

ACT Raising Safe Kids Program

The ACT program was developed and is coordinated by the American Psychological Association’s Violence Prevention Office.  The Yellow Brick Foundation has two certified facilitators who lead this 8-week program.

The ACT Program teaches positive parenting skills and provides an environment where adults can share thoughts and ideas with the group so we all learn together.  ACT focuses on the important role of adults in shaping children’s environment and experiences; we want to help provide a safe, learning environment for all children.

Our current series of ACT for Parents/Caregivers is scheduled to take place at Keeler Women’s Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

Starting a new group January 9th  (8 weeks on Monday 1:30-3:00pm)
