The Yellow Brick Foundation was founded in 2013 to fill a need seen in Wyandotte County. It began as a shared dream of three women who met by chance. Their desire to make a positive change in the lives of others is what drives this organization. We work to enable women through education to be stronger by building up brick by brick skills such as respect, responsibility and rationale so they can be successful on their path in life.
We began with donation drives to bring awareness of our services to the residents in and around Wyandotte County. Understanding that families who live paycheck to paycheck are one emergency away from homelessness and are the marginalized is part of what drives us. They struggle to put food on the table and have no where to turn to get a leg up in life. The Yellow Brick Foundation collects items we feel are necessities to healthy living which cannot be purchased with Food Stamps (SNAP) or WIC such as laundry soap, hand sanitizer, facial tissue, etc.
The Yellow Brick Foundation works to be a helping hand by providing a variety of classes to attempt to satisfy specific needs in a woman’s life. No matter age, race or any other demographic, women are called to come and participate however they can either one time or on a regular basis. We look forward to meeting you!
If you are in need of services, please apply here.
The Yellow Brick Foundation looks to be able to offer a thrift store, “Dotte’s Closet” specifically for women full of beautiful clothes and accessories for every day and work purposes. Currently we open “shoppe” and host mobile sales around Wyandotte County until we are able to have a permanent location.
Monetary donations will be used to meet women and families where they are and help them move closer to realizing their personal goals.
The Ladies of The Yellow Brick Foundation
Heather brings strong organizational skills and even a stronger faith to the project. Her experience includes marketing and fundraising for multiple events. She is also a trained facilitator and teacher. Her smile and energy is contagious! Heather previously worked in Youth Ministry at a church in Kansas City and has volunteered at various service agencies in the Kansas City area. Through her work at the church, she was exposed to service, especially helping the “working poor” and felt the call to do more. As co-founder of The Yellow Brick Foundation, she seeks donations from the community through donation drives and fundraising events, recruits, trains and coordinates volunteers, and also leads some of the classes as part of the “Successful Living Certificate” Program. firstname.lastname@example.org
